Kansas City First Aid teaches courses at various locations within the Kansas City area. You will be advised of the location of your course during the registration process.

Yes, if you have six or more participants, our instructor will come to your location and teach any American Heart Association course. We have the latest equipment and do tabletop CPR classes and BLS Certification Classes - so no more getting down on the ground to practice! There are no additional fees involved for this option.

If you have fewer than six, we recommend attending one of our scheduled courses.

No, there are no age requirements.  However, younger children may not understand the steps to CPR or be able to do chest compressions. We recommend eight years of age as a minimum.

Upon successful course completion, American Heart Association (AHA) or Health & Safety Institute (HSI) certification cards valid for 2 years will be distributed at your course.

Please do not bring children, friends, or other guests. Only registered participants may attend the class. Please do not bring your pets to Pet First Aid (or any other class). BLS Certification Classes and CPR Classes are not designed to accommodate pets.

CPR certification classes are ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared for medical emergencies. Many employers—including schools, healthcare facilities, childcare providers, and fitness centers—require CPR certification. Even if certification is not required, learning CPR can help you respond to cardiac arrest, choking, or other life-threatening situations. Kansas City First Aid offers classes suitable for healthcare providers, workplace teams, and everyday community members who want to learn lifesaving skills.

Most CPR certifications—including those issued through American Heart Association and the Health and Safety Institute (HIS) training programs—are valid for two years. After that period, students must complete a renewal course or skills evaluation to maintain their certification. Kansas City First Aid provides both initial certification classes and renewal options, making it easy for students to stay compliant with employer or licensing requirements.

Class length depends on the course type. A basic CPR/AED certification class usually takes around 2–3 hours, while BLS for Healthcare Providers takes around 3 hours and a  First Aid with CPR/AED courses may take approximately 4 hours. Kansas City First Aid clearly lists course lengths for each class and offers flexible scheduling options for both individuals and groups.

No prior experience is required for most CPR or First Aid classes. These courses are designed for beginners and walk students through every step of emergency response, including recognizing emergencies, performing CPR, and using an AED. Kansas City First Aid instructors guide students through hands-on practice and provide step-by-step instruction so anyone can learn lifesaving skills confidently.

Students who successfully complete their CPR or BLS course typically receive their certification card upon completion of the class. Kansas City First Aid will send electronic  certification cards after students successfully demonstrate the required skills and pass course evaluations. This allows students to leave class ready to meet employer or licensing requirements.
